About this electrical referral service

Mernda Electricians is an enquiry and referral website run by Yes Right Pty Ltd. How enquiries are handled and how to check an electrician's Victorian licence.

Yes Right Pty Ltd (ABN 91 664 546 061) runs Mernda Electricians as a place to send an enquiry about electrical work in Mernda, Doreen, South Morang, Wollert and Whittlesea. Households, landlords and property managers use the form to set out the job, for example a full switchboard, a garage that needs an EV circuit or a safety switch that will not stay on. An independent licensed electrician then reads it and decides whether to quote.

Yes Right is a referral business, not an electrical contractor. It holds no electrical licence, has no electricians on staff and does no wiring or repairs itself. There is no Mernda office or workshop behind the site, and there are no customer reviews or past projects on it, since none belong to us. Photos on these pages show the kind of electrical work being discussed. None of them show a job that came through this website.

How an enquiry moves from the form to an electrician

  1. Through the enquiry form you give your suburb, how to reach you and what the electrical job is. A photo of the switchboard helps for most jobs.
  2. We may pass those details to an independent electrical contractor working around Mernda and the City of Whittlesea, who can then reply to you.
  3. The contractor judges whether they want the job. Before giving a price they may ask to see photos, visit the house or get more detail.
  4. Accepting a quote creates an agreement between you and that contractor. This website is not a party to it.

Nobody can promise a provider will be free, that a reply will come within a set time, or that your job will be taken on. The form is not watched as an emergency line. If the switchboard smells of burning, something is sparking or a tap gives you a shock, go to the fault finding page for Energy Safe Victoria’s advice, and call your distributor or emergency services as it explains.

Who answers for the work

Once an electrical contractor takes on the job, these things sit with them:

  • the Victorian licence and contractor registration needed for the work;
  • the price, what is included, and any variation along the way;
  • doing the work safely and properly, to AS/NZS 3000;
  • booking the independent inspection that prescribed work such as a main switchboard requires;
  • handing you a certificate of electrical safety;
  • their own payment terms, conditions and any warranty.

Get the scope, the exclusions and the price in writing before anyone starts. Our Mernda electrical cost guide sets out the parts of a complete quote.

Checking a Victorian electrician’s licence

In Victoria, electrical contractors are registered and individual electricians are licensed by Energy Safe Victoria. The regulator recommends hiring a registered electrical contractor and asking the electrician for their licence. Licensed workers have an ID card that shows the class of work they hold a licence for. The Energy Safe public register page has a search for Registered Electrical Contractors (the business) and Licensed Electrical Workers (the person), and a search for certificates of electrical safety.

Energy Safe Victoria wants to hear from you if an electrician refuses to show their licence or to give you a certificate. Its electrical workers page lists the checks to make.

Jobs you can enquire about here

The site takes enquiries for switchboard upgrades, EV charger installation, power points and lighting, smoke alarms and fault finding and safety checks. Suburb pages cover Mernda, Doreen, South Morang, Wollert and Whittlesea.

We do not take enquiries for gas fitting, solar or battery design, data cabling or appliance repairs. Do not do electrical work yourself: Energy Safe Victoria says it is illegal and can kill.
